New Single/Video: “Nourish Me”

Sept 3rd, 2019  - Speakeasē is announcing their latest release, a live video of their latest single to be released simultaneously. For the Bay Area based neo-soul collective, fronted by Adi Gobert & Daniel Erik, this marks their first release after their successful debut album “Deerlion” dropped in the winter of 2018.

Adi Gobert and Daniel Erik, the leaders of the musical project, came together to write this song at their favorite songwriting spot in Mendocino County. Have you ever dated someone that has trouble dealing with their strong emotions when they come up? ”Nourish Me” is a tribute to all humans that offer their patience, presence, love, and tender affections to their moody lovers, partners, and spouses that can be so wonderful, but so temperamental.

Musically,  the song is emblematic of Speakeasē’s deepening interest and passion for neo-soul and contemporary jazz. Less traditional than classic soul or R&B, the band experiments with new sounds and grooves, taking the frustration of a tumultuous relationships and hand mixing it with soul food to create “Nourish Me”.

Paired with the talented Robin Applewood, an acclaimed local producer, the band spent a day recording “Nourish Me” in front of a green screen. The result is an aesthetically pleasing video, which Applewood and Speakeasē decided to release along with a live recording.

Speakeasē has packed well regarded venues on the West Coast including The Independent, The Chapel, and Cornerstone. In 2019, they hit the festival circuit, playing music festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle, Bear Music Festival and The Plunge.

“Nourish Me”: On YouTube and streaming platforms starting October 10, 2019

LYRICS

It blows my mind how much we vibe

You’re my bread and butter, the finest wine

I’ve got gratitude but bae this attitude

Like morning before coffee, the cup’s half full not empty

I’m offerin’ my presence and body

But I’ll be gettin’ out the kitchen if I can’t your heat

But I, I wanna make you feel good

Oh I, want you to be understood

You’ve got the capacity

Just take a moment and breathe

I want to eat your soul food

But could you just cook off that smokey mood

Baby don’t you see?

You also nourish me

I’m telling you I’ve got an appetite

Serve the best of yourself when you’re feeling right

If you souflé the tone down we’ll be glory bound

Cause I, I wanna make you feel good

Oh I, want you to be understood

You’ve got the capacity

Just take a moment and breathe

Can you feel the vibe? I’m on your side

Can you feel the vibe? I’m yours and your mine

Can you feel the vibe? I’m on your side

Can you feel the vibe? I’m not gonna hide

Cause I’m hungry for your love

I’m hungry for your love

I’m starving for your attention, affection, erection

Can we make it through this transgression?

Said I’m hungry for your love
